What does ppm mean?
PPM stands for "parts per million" and is a unit of measurement that indicates the concentration of a particular gas in the air. For example, if we measure a CO2 level of 1,000 ppm, this means that there are 1,000 CO2 molecules for every million air molecules.
Why is ppm a good unit of measurement?
PPM is widely used to indicate the concentration of gases because it provides an accurate and easy-to-understand value. CO2 levels in indoor air typically vary between 400 ppm (outdoor air) and 5,000 ppm (critical level for long-term exposure). In comparison, outdoor CO2 levels in Denmark are usually around 400 ppm, which provides a good reference point for indoor air.
By using ppm as a unit, SKYEN can provide precise measurements that help identify when air quality becomes poor and when airing out is necessary.
What does the CO2 level mean for your indoor climate?
SKYEN uses the following scale to assess the CO2 level, where A is best and G is worst:
-
A: ≤ 800 ppm
-
B: 801-1000 ppm
-
C: 1001-1200 ppm
-
D: 1201-1400 ppm
-
E: 1401-1600 ppm
-
F: 1601-1800 ppm
-
G: > 1800 ppm
You can find the AG scaling on the front of the dashboard, which can be found by scanning the QR code that comes with the SKY.
By monitoring CO2 levels with SKYEN, you can make informed decisions about ventilation and indoor climate improvements. Good air quality contributes to better well-being, productivity and health in both the home and workplace.
